The most useful time to investigate a concealed shielding joint may be before the finish closes it in. A construction verification plan should therefore identify which observations belong during installation and which require the completed enclosure. These are complementary stages with different limits.

Agree the hold points

Project stagePurpose
Before concealmentObserve specified interfaces and resolve accessible workmanship questions
Enclosure completionConfirm doors, services, filters and removable panels are in the agreed state
Acceptance testingMeasure the completed scope against the approved frequency and performance schedule
After corrective workVerify repairs and reconsider affected adjacent interfaces

Do not overstate an intermediate test

A measurement on a partly completed wall section does not establish the shielding effectiveness of the final room. Boundary conditions, openings and test arrangement can differ. If an intermediate measurement is specified, agree its method, purpose and permitted conclusion in advance.

Coordinate the trades and the test team

  • Define who owns the interface register and approves test readiness.
  • Reserve access on both sides of selected boundaries.
  • Plan installation completion and work restrictions during measurements.
  • Confirm any RF source-operation constraints with the facility.
  • Protect documentation and images through the project’s approved channels.

A final readiness review should identify deviations from the tested configuration. Continuing construction after the acceptance visit can affect previously documented performance; agree how those changes are assessed and recorded. The final report should make its enclosure condition and coverage unmistakable.

Before the measurement visit, use the RF shielding test-plan checklist to confirm the enclosure boundaries, acceptance criteria and access arrangements.

For an initial scope discussion, request testing using unclassified information only. OSAT documents measured performance; the responsible authority makes acceptance and accreditation decisions.
